Ideal Penny, Patti Playpal Doll 32 Auburn 32-EL Original Dress & Shoes DAMAGED
If you are a serious collector you already know the specifics about Penny so we will get right to the damage. Penny has the usual leg crack but it’s a miracle because it’s only one leg! The other leg is fine. The cracked leg is split on the front pretty bad, and the back. I have put clear tape on the cracks to prevent further damage. Just never got around to fixing it. Because of her fragile leg I never cleaned out the inside so it’s dirty in there. No heel dents or cracks, but she does have a strip of discoloration going down the back of both legs. I’ve not seen that before so not sure what caused it. Her torso looks good and has good color and no cracks. There is a little scrape and pit dot on the front. Arms are faded and have some staining from the original dress I’m assuming. They hold a decent pose but not completely tightened. Whoever owned her before did an interesting banding. They used bent nails as hooks and a thick rubber band. I replaced the nails with actual s hooks but left the band as it’s holding well. Her head has an added S hook I added so it won’t crack the neckline on the torso. She does have some more of that red staining but it’s right under the neck line. She has decent coloring with some fading of the cheeks and mouth paint. Her eyes are still fairly blue and it’s possible some eyelashes are missing or at least the tips broke off on one eye? Also her eyes open and close but the same eye with the last situation is a little sticky now and then. Her hair is still fairly auburn and I did wash it and got most tangle out about a year ago. I did not want to mess with the original curls so I left as is. It’s pretty dry and could use another reset if desired. I don’t see any noticeable hair plugs missing but also didn’t do a deep dive. Dress is all original. It still has a nice vivid yellow coloring and I did wash it. It has the original square snaps on the back. One of the snaps has come off one side but it’s still snapped into it’s connecting piece. There are a few holes which I’ve photographed. Not major and displays well. It also has been ripped down the seem on the back. Most likely from someone taking the dress off or putting it back on. The slip has seen better days. It has some rips around one of the sleeve areas and another small one on the chest. I did NOT wash this one because of the bigger tears. It has its original buttons on back. Panties are the only thing not original. Shoes and socks are original but have definitely seen better days but display well. Socks have holes in them and shoes look decent except the strap black coloring with shine is cracking and filling off at the touch. I tried to color some in with black ink but it still keeps falling off. The latch on each side is there but the holes have all shrunk so I couldn’t get them latched properly. They are on but feel free to ditch them for another pair. The back of one shoe is split some as well. There’s A LOT to point out here so I could have missed something. I wish they would have let me put more than 24 pictures. I sadly paid a fortune for this doll in different ways. I bought all the components separately at different times. I just don’t think I can get what I paid back and this is a chance for someone to own a very lovely and displayable Rare Penny Playpal. I hate to see her go as I had plans to put her in another dress, but I simply have to make some room and thin out my projects. Please ask all the questions you wish and I can show more pics of desired. Please look at all the pictures and ask as many questions as you like. This girl has been loved and she is showing her age, but she displays lovely in that little outfit and bonnet!
